  I owned a construction company in Northern Ontario,Canada. I started Graycom from scratch. I hired my buddies and used my old half ton chevy to start. Worked hard and perservered everyday through the "the lean start up times"... Then In 1997 I hit a big contract that would change my life... I won the bid for the Shaw Cable internet build contract. By 1999 we had buried miles of fiber optic cable. I had a fleet of trucks,backhoes,trenchers,augers etc... Graycom grew and grew .... ( Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada to Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada ( The North Shore of Lake Superior )( think" SS Edmund Fitzgereald shipwreck " Gordon Lightfoot". Superior is a massive unforgiving lake. It's just untouched ( but a beautiful area ). This was the original Northern Internet build. The tech boom was in full swing and .com company's were trading at 100 times their earnings. Most had no earnings at all and opened up at $35.00+ a share. IPO's, Nasdaq futures were a sure bet every morning. Everyone was day trading and making $$$. It seemed like no matter what you put your money into you couldn't lose. My construction company was making bank to the tune of $60 000.00 a week(the rate was $10.00/ft of buried fiber optic cable in those days)(trust me we ran a lot of cable)I had 2 dynamite crews for mountainside excavation alone...lots of people sold their stocks and made millions. I was greedy and fully invested in .coms, thought it couldn't possibly end. Then it turned... Dark Monday... Happend so fast..stocks that were a $100.00 a share were now $1.00. I remember one morning I lost $100 000.00 on Etoys.com alone. The End was near....in sept of 2001 I went Bankrupt in the .coms. Lost large. Stocks had all crashed to almost worthlessness. The party was over...
